A Night That Proved the Village Still Exists

Updated: May 22

Reflecting on our first Sip & Self Care fundraiser — and what your support makes possible for families right here in our community

Last week, we hosted our first major fundraising event — Sip & Self Care Ladies Night Out — at the beautiful Gruver Farms. And honestly? We are still a little speechless.

Looking around that room and seeing so many people choose to spend their evening celebrating parents, children, and community was deeply moving. It was the kind of night that reminded us exactly why we started The Nest in the first place.

Parents Were Never Meant to Do This Alone

"People do want a village. The problem is that modern life has slowly dismantled so much of the infrastructure that once made it easier to find."

The Nest was born less than a year ago from a need that felt both deeply personal and painfully universal. In 2024, the U.S. Surgeon General released an advisory warning that parental stress and isolation in this country have reached crisis levels. We didn't need statistics to confirm it — we had lived it ourselves. And we knew we weren't alone.

From Small Gatherings to Real Community

What started as small gatherings through Mindful Mamas Adventure Club grew into something we hadn't fully anticipated: a community that already wanted to exist. Parents were craving connection. Volunteers stepped forward. A speech therapist offered story time. An occupational therapist led kids' activities. Someone organized a bubble party at the park. And slowly, friendships formed, phone numbers were exchanged, and real support systems took root.

Your Generosity Is Already Reaching Families

That's what The Nest is here to nurture — and your support from our first fundraiser helps us keep doing exactly that.

Here's a look at what your generosity makes possible:

Support That Feels Personal, Practical, and Close to Home

Beyond the numbers, your support also funds our weekly support groups — for all parents, postpartum families, NICU families, and expecting parents — as well as bi-monthly expert-led workshops covering everything from car seat safety and CPR to financial literacy and developmental milestones. A grief support group is also coming soon.

This Is Only the Beginning

We also want to give a heartfelt thank-you to our sponsors; The Snook Group, Canoe Creek Commodities, and Charlie Health for your continued belief in this mission. Thank you to our our vendors who made the evening so fun; The Charm Bar by Lilly Rose, York Linked Permanent Jewelry, Garton Gardens, Laurel & Crumbs, Perry Pizza Co. & Anna J Photography. Thank you to our space partners Clear Path Pediatric Therapy, Lively Hive, and Tucker & Co., and everyone who contributed food, products, services, and their time. And to Gruver Farms for hosting us so beautifully.

Every ticket purchased, every raffle entry, every dollar donated — it stays right here. In Cumberland County. In our community. In the hands of families who need it.

"We are building a world where parents feel seen, supported, and connected instead of isolated. A world where asking for help is normal. Where community is something we actively create together."

We are so grateful you were part of our first chapter. We hope you'll stay for everything that comes next.

With gratitude,

Lyndsay & Cassidy
